AIGA | Design for Sustainability

The semester is almost over!
And you knew that, I’m sure.
The Patrick Coyne events went very well, thanks to all of you who came out. Mr. Coyne gave a great presentation, and offered up a ton of great advice. A huge thanks to Paul Carew, Jennie Myers and the rest of the AIGA Idaho board for doing some outstanding work to make this event happen.
If you missed the talks, don’t fear. AIGA Idaho has many more great events in the works for next semester, including a visit from illustrator/designer Von Glitchka. We will be working with AIGA Idaho to help out with that event and others any way we can, which provides a great opportunity for students to work alongside other AIGA members to do something positive for the creative community here in Idaho.
We will also be hosting Mix/Mentor once again at the beginning of Spring semester. If you missed out last time, you can take advantage of this great opportunity next semester. Stay tuned for more info on that.
In other news, we will be looking for some new AIGA Boise State board members next semester. If you are interested, or know someone who may be, send a nomination e-mail to steve@aigabsu.org. We will be voting on new board members at the beginning of the semester. Open positions are President, Treasurer and Secretary. It’s a great way to get some leadership experience, as well as get known within AIGA Idaho.
Also, congratulations to our graduating board members: John Briggs, Marie Smartt and Kyle Struchen. Good luck!

Patrick Coyne and planning for next semester
Hello all,
We have a couple pretty cool events coming up. As you probably already know, Communication Arts editor / designer Patrick Coyne is going to be speaking at the Boise Depot on Dec 11. You can learn more about that here.
Mr. Coyne will also be speaking to students the next morning, Dec 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the Special Events Center. It will be a great opportunity to learn about what it takes to get work into Communication Arts Magazine and ways to improve your work in general.
Also, we need to submit our budget for next year soon, and we are taking suggestions regarding what kinds of events our members want to see. You can post your ideas in the comments section. We will also be looking for some new board members for the next semester, so if you are interested in participating, send an e-mail to
